The settlement at the "Erfurter Kreuz" is further proof of the attractiveness of the business location. He was particularly pleased that Marquardt would establish a completely new, innovative product in Thuringia. "We therefore promise every support so that this investment and this product will be a complete success for the company and the region". As a strong automotive supplier location with more than 500 suppliers today, the Free State offers the company the best framework conditions and support when challenges arise. 

    Attractive location with growth potential

    "Ichtershausen is a very attractive location for us. Thanks to the convenient location, the high level of industry expertise and the many qualified employees in the region, we have the best conditions here to produce the highest quality for our customers, to continue to grow and to create jobs," says Jochen Becker. The Chief Operating Officer, who is responsible for the Marquardt Group's global network of plants, adds: "The demand for complex mechatronic system solutions will continue to rise massively with the increasing digitalisation, networking and electrification of the car. Also, even more safety and comfort functions will be integrated into vehicle interiors in the future. As a partner of leading brands, we are helping to shape these future trends and are aligning our production strategy accordingly. Ichtershausen will play an important role in this." 

    The products are manufactured in a 10,000 m² workshop in the Ichtershausen industrial area. From January 2019, Marquardt will gradually build up production, and the recruitment of new employees has already begun.


    Expert in interactive mechatronics

    Marquardt, a family-run company founded in 1925 and based in Rietheim-Weilheim, Baden-Württemberg, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electromechanical and electronic switches and switching systems. The products of the mechatronics expert are used by many well-known customers in the automotive industry and include operating components, vehicle access, drive authorization and battery management systems. The company’s systems are also used in household appliances, industrial applications, power tools and e-bikes. Marquardt Group employs more than 11,000 members of staff worldwide at its 20 locations in four continents. In Germany, Marquardt employs 2,600 people. The company generated over €1.2 billion sales revenue in the fiscal year 2017. Each year, Marquardt invests around 10% of its revenues in research & development.
