Mercedes-Benz C-Class and new SLK Roadster start with Marquardt

Rietheim-Weilheim, 25th March 2011 – The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, along with the SLK Roadster, is now available at dealers. In addition to their new designs, these models offer a number of highly complex, high tech products which come from Marquardt. The entire series has the so-called “ECO start/stop function”, where the push of a button in the cockpit signals the car that it is standing at a red light, for example, and the motor can be shut off. The control panel, which sits in the middle console in the new C-Class, as well as on the SLK Roadster, originated with our design ideas.

Daimler AG is, with good cause, very proud of this new interior, which boasts a sporty, ergonomic, highly stylized look and even in the basic model, the switches and background of the console, as well as other components, shimmer in brushed aluminium. “This is a highly-prized, superficial technology which we have specially developed. We can assume that Marquardt is one of the few vendors that can meet this strict customer requirement,” says Dr. Harald Marquardt, speaking for the Marquardt GmbH management team. Marquardt also offers other components that can be found in both these series. The electronic key with the accompanying electronic ignition key has become a marketing factor for dealers, as well as the keyless packet, which belongs to the antenna and control devices.

With the multifunctional control panel on the middle console, the driver has easy access to radio and navigation systems, which can also be accessed on the steering wheel, as well. The switch for the convertible top (SLK) or the sun roof (C-Class) increases the optical and technical combination of the car interior. CEO Dr. Harald Marquardt says, “all electromechanical and mechatronic solutions that we develop here in Rietheim or around the world adhere to the same resource sparing criteria: little space, low weight, less energy usage.” Other individual switches, including the SOS switch for the American market, complete the package from Marquardt for other switches not found in the cockpit. “Marquardt plays an important role in all areas of control, mobility and comfort and will continue to do so in the future,” says Marquardt.
