The Böttingen ski lift, where one of Marquardt’s production sites is based, is one of the highest lifts in the Swabian Alp.

Throughout the district of Tuttlingen, you’ll find a vibrant community scene, cultural and educational programs and good infrastructures in terms of schools, kindergartens and healthcare provision. Both Trossingen and Donaueschingen are internationally recognized as major music locations, as well. On Friday, you can go for a ride through the woods to clear your head, shake off the week’s work and breathe in the fresh air.
Afterwards, enjoy a nice Italian restaurant in Tuttlingen and then a beer at the nearby Irish pub. Two new colleagues from the US happen to be there, too and, since you’re having such a good time, you stay until the last round.
Your Saturday may begin with a relaxed breakfast at a cafe in Rottweil. Revitalized, you head to the highest viewing platform in Germany, the thyssenkrupp test tower, built for the research of elevator technology. At a height of 246 meters it is about 80 meters higher than the Stuttgart TV tower.
Now that you are in the oldest town in Baden-Württemberg, how about a historic tour of the former city of the Romans?
Or, would you prefer a spa afternoon and swimming fun at aquasol, the indoor swimming pool with one of the longest tube slides in southern Germany?
In the evening, you can eat at a traditional restaurant with authentic Swabian cuisine. And for those who want to stay out a bit longer, the award-winning event venue, Kraftwerk, regularly hosts events and concerts featuring the biggest celebrity names. Those who would rather spend the evening unwinding can opt for a gin-and-tonic at a nice bar.
Sundays are for spoiling yourself. Perhaps a ten-kilometer circular walk from the historic town hall in Möhringen on to the Danube Sinkhole, and from there – depending on the season – to Immendingen and back along the dry riverbed? Or maybe a view of the imposing Hohenzollern Castle?
Or how about a trip to Europa-Park in Rust, Germany’s biggest theme park?
Maybe a road trip over the border to Switzerland with a stop at the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen? Then you can load your bikes into the car, drive to the Hohentwiel in Singen and explore the area surrounding the ancient volcanic cone by bike.
And once you are there, Lake Constance is just a half-hour away by car. Finish your weekend at a cozy town restaurant before making the hour-long trip back to Rietheim.
