Rietheim-Weilheim, Germany July 1, 2021 – Mechatronics specialist Marquardt has established a new tech firm at its headquarters in Rietheim-Weilheim: MARQ4 Automation GmbH develops and builds highly automated assembly and testing systems that are used in the automotive industry, the electronics sector, by med tech manufacturers and in other branches of industry. 60 engineers, technicians and designers work for MARQ4 Automation. More staff are to be recruited during the start-up phase.
Adapted to trends in digitalization
“Whether it’s Industry 4.0, robotics, or cybersecurity – our experts have adapted to the major digitalization trends in plant and test equipment construction and have built up extensive expertise and specific skills in recent years. To make the most of our enormous potential, in future we will also be offering our experience to external customers, thus tapping into further promising markets,” remarked Dr. Harald Marquardt, Chief Executive Officer of the Marquardt Group, on the occasion of the official company’s launch today (July 1).
MARQ4 Automation GmbH’s Managing Director is Harald Berchtold, who has extensive international industrial experience and has been responsible for industrialization in the plant network and the Marquardt Excellence division globally at Marquardt in recent years. “Our team has designed, built, commissioned and maintained several hundred plants for the Marquardt Group over the last 35 years. Then again, as a newly founded company, we are characterized by the mentality, the extraordinary flexibility and the passion for innovation of a start-up,” commented Harald Berchtold.
Complete systems from a single source
The company benefits from its expertise in both automation and testing technology, so it can offer complete systems from a single source. The range of potential fields of application is wide, extending from the electronic micro-component of a high-pressure cleaner, or touch control panel of a household appliance, to innovative LED strips for the interior of premium vehicles and heavy high-voltage systems for e-mobility. “Especially since electric vehicles are becoming increasingly important, MARQ4 Automation is scoring top marks as a complete supplier and pioneer in battery management; we can already draw on experience gained from several successful plant projects,” said Mr. Berchtold.
A global network for international customers
With the range of services it offers, the newly founded tech firm will target more than just customers in Germany and the rest of Europe. The Marquardt Group’s global network means that MARQ4 Automation will also serve attractive markets in America, Asia, North Africa, and other parts of the world. “With our assembly and testing systems ‘made in Germany’, we’d like to help manufacturers around the globe to ensure that their innovative ideas ultimately become convincing quality products,” confirmed Managing Director Harald Berchtold.
