Pune, India, December, 2022 – Marquardt is further expanding its presence in India. The mechatronics specialist has opened a new development center in Pune. Around 450 experts are working there, among other things, on new solutions for e-mobility. In addition, the family-owned company has started to build a new production plant near Pune.

"India is a very fast-growing market and another important pillar for our future business in Asia. We have already been developing mechatronic solutions there for renowned manufacturers for many years. At the same time, our experts at the new development center in Pune are working on products for customers in other countries. In addition to our development activities, we are significantly expanding our production capacities. With a new plant, we want to serve the rapidly growing demand of Indian vehicle manufacturers even better and shape the electrification of mobility“,  said Dr. Harald Marquardt, Chief Executive Officer of the Management Board of the Marquardt Group.

For example, the engineers in Pune are pushing solutions for battery management systems for electrically powered vehicles. The team works on local as well as global projects, in which it is closely networked with the other development sites in Germany, Romania, the USA and China. In India, the development team will even continue to grow: The new building has room for twice as many employees as before. The new production plant will also create several hundred new jobs. On more than 20,000 square meters of floor space, the new Marquardt plant will have its own electronics production and logistics in addition to state-of-the-art assembly lines by mid-2024.
