Staying True to Tradition

The world is continuously moving – and so is Marquardt. Everything is changing, incessantly and with increasing speed. We are shaping this change by questioning time-honored traditions, thinking outside the box and heading down new paths. However, if there’s one area where “We’ve always done things a certain way!” is being accepted by us, it’s our commitment to social issues. This is because we at Marquardt have a decades-long tradition in this field and will continue to shoulder this responsibility into the future. The notion of “think global, act local” applies to Rietheim-Weilheim, as well as to all of our locations worldwide.

    Committed to Good Causes

At Marquardt, we believe that it is important to give back. We work to preserve cultural heritage, promote music and education, and donate to social and humanitarian projects. Being a company whose history has strong roots in its region of origin, we pull our humanitarian efforts specifically to Baden-Württemberg. Since expanding into the international scene, we haven’t remained idle at our locations abroad when help has been needed.

    Movement does good

At the employee event "Marquardt Moves" more than 150 employees ran for a good cause. The earnings from the charity run were donated to social institutions.

    Tailwind for helpers

With a donation Marquardt supports a social institution in its area of origin every year. In 2019 the cheque went to the Feldner Muehle in Villingen, which offers children, young people and adults with disabilities a pleasant change and relaxation from everyday life with its leisure activities.

    Sponsor for education

Marquardt is the sponsor of the primary school "Ghedir El Goulla" near Tunis. 450 children are now learning in renovated classrooms and are excited about the modernization of the school facilities.

    Commitment to nature

Planting trees is active climate protection. Our Marquardt colleagues in Irapuato helped with family and friends at the largest reforestation program in Mexico.

    Charity in China

A charity auction for the Chinese New Year was organized by a team in Shanghai. At the company celebration, items brought along by the staff were auctioned off. Colleagues used the earnings to buy gifts for schoolchildren.

    Sustainability is Our Compass

As a creative mechatronics expert, Marquardt is passionately involved in developing forward-looking solutions – from drive systems in e-mobility and resource-saving household appliances to new technologies for the more environmentally-friendly energy generation. But sustainability first and foremost starts with sustainable management. Being an independent family-run business with a long-term strategy, Marquardt reinvests its profits; 10% of our annual turnover, for example, is invested in research and development. Together with an average of 11.2% of organic growth over the last twelve years and a healthy equity ratio, we are laying the foundations for responsible business practices with prospects.

    Systematic Environmental Protection

The most innovative leaders in the industry must place the highest demands on their environmental performance. At Marquardt, we are therefore consistently pursuing our environmental protection goals. Energy conservation is top priority. To cut our electricity, compressed air, heating oil, gas and district heating consumption as much as possible, we have introduced an energy management system that meets the requirements of the globally valid DIN EN ISO 50001 standard. We have been harnessing the waste heat potential, using energy-efficient plants and equipment in production and building technology, reducing compressed air consumption and minimizing standby consumption throughout weekends and on public holidays, for a long time already.

Marquardt receives the bronze medal in the EcoVadis rating for sustainability.

    Energy Made in Rietheim

In Rietheim-Weilheim, a Development and Innovation Center is established, where new technologies for e-mobility will also be researched. Thanks to state-of-the-art facilities, the building consumes 60 percent less energy than conventional buildings. Marquardt installs its own combined heat and power plant and a photovoltaic system there. The electricity generated and the waste heat will be fed into the company’s own grid, thus reducing Marquardt’s annual CO2 emissions by an average of 550 tons. The use of fossil fuels, such as gas and heating oil, is reduced with the introduction of a highly-efficient combined heat and power generator. The combined heat and power plant has an energy efficiency that corresponds to the heating requirements of approximately 150 single-family homes and the electricity requirements of approximately 70 single-family homes.
